This New Ride is Hotter Than Ever

Around 11:00 p.m. on Saturday evening, the new Walt Disney World ride, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, caught fire. The fire was said to have started when a small amount of embers from the nightly fireworks at Magic Kingdom landed on the exterior of the new attraction. Numerous pictures and videos have been shared by onlookers via social media. It was reported that no one was injured during the fire. The damage was only cosmetic and the tracks, train, and even mechanics was not damaged. The Reedy Creek Fire Department responded to the scene within minutes of the accident. Within no time the fire was extinguished and the ride was back up and running. People were able to get back on the operating ride the same night.

The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is a thrilling, kid-friendly, roller-coaster that takes you further into greater detail of the Walt’s first cartoon movie, Snow White. Waiting in line, the guest is able to take a trip through the dwarves’ cottage and over rock brides. Once boarding, you are taken on a journey through the dwarves’ gem mine. The ride is thrilling while also promised to be household friendly. 

It absolutely blows my mind that Disney is able to put out a fire and have that same ride functional within several minutes. A small fire doesn't ruin the party at Disney.

An icon disappears...

Walt Disney World Company wants additional room to add new attractions to the park Hollywood Studios, but there is no place to put the new attraction unless you take old ones away. So, in order to make more room for the upcoming attractions, the company has decided to remove the famous park icon.

It was announced October 24^th that the 122- foot tall structure will be gone by early 2015. Many people support the removal of the icon, saying that it does not “suit” the theme of the park and blocks tremendous view of the Chinese theater. Mickey Mouse’s blue sorcerer hat can be seen in the famous Walt Disney production of “Fantasia” and was installed just as a “focal point.” From the beginning, people have not supported the installation of the hat. Hollywood Studio’s theme is said to follow the “golden age” of the 1920s, 30s, and 40s and the sorcerer hat does not seem to follow that theme.

I, personally, do not know a life without walking into the park and seeing the large hat at the end of the street. I am a little upset seeing the hat go but knowing Disney, it will be replaced by something ten times better. People from all over the United States and even the world come to see the great icon. Opening in 2001, the hat has had thirteen amazing years of being the icon of the Hollywood Studios.

What's Being Closed?!

Walt Disney World’s Hollywood Studios wants to close several popular attractions in order to make an expansion, but there is uproar whether or not to close the attractions. So, Disney must reconsider if the expansion will be worth it.

 

Coming from a huge fan of the Hollywood Studio’s Backlot tour, I am tremendously upset that Disney has decided to do away with this attraction.  Many people have different feelings about this. Some believe that another thrilling event will come while others are upset that they are doing away with the ride. I feel that Disney never makes the event worse, so even though the attraction is going to taken away, I believe that the rumored expansion will be a step above what is currently there.

People from countries all around the world have come to Hollywood studios to experience the magic and thrill of the Backlot tour and no longer will be able to. Hopefully the new expansion will attract even more onlookers. I might feel lost without the Backlot tour just like Odysseus in the classic myth, The Odyssey, but knowing Disney I’ll be fine. The new expansion will be great!
