Walt Disney World
Company wants additional room to add new attractions to the park Hollywood Studios,
but there is no place to put the new attraction unless you take old ones away.
So, in order to make more room for the upcoming attractions, the company has
decided to remove the famous park icon.
It was announced
October 24th that the 122- foot tall structure will be gone by early
2015. Many people support the removal of the icon, saying that it does not “suit”
the theme of the park and blocks tremendous view of the Chinese theater. Mickey
Mouse’s blue sorcerer hat can be seen in the famous Walt Disney production of “Fantasia”
and was installed just as a “focal point.” From the beginning, people have not
supported the installation of the hat. Hollywood Studio’s theme is said to
follow the “golden age” of the 1920s, 30s, and 40s and the sorcerer hat does
not seem to follow that theme.
I, personally, do not
know a life without walking into the park and seeing the large hat at the end
of the street. I am a little upset seeing the hat go but knowing Disney, it
will be replaced by something ten times better. People from all over the United
States and even the world come to see the great icon. Opening in 2001, the hat
has had thirteen amazing years of being the icon of the Hollywood Studios.
